“I chose to have two surgeries close to home at Wagoner Health!”
– Kelly Grooms
When Kelly Grooms (center) was diagnosed with gallstones at a Tulsa hospital, he decided to have his gallbladder removed at Wagoner Health.
“I had trusted Wagoner Health for another surgery a few years ago,” Kelly explains. “The entire process went very smoothly, and the care I received was excellent. So, for this surgery, I decided to stay close to home and trust Wagoner Health again.”
Dr. Faisal Khan (left), a general surgeon and emergency medicine physician with Wagoner Health, performed the minimally invasive gallbladder surgery, which required only tiny incisions. Before the surgery, Kelly had experienced severe pain in his lower right rib cage. “The pain was a seven or eight on a scale of 10, and my wife, Sherry, was very concerned,” says Kelly. “I was in and out of the hospital for the outpatient surgery in just a few hours. And what’s really remarkable is that I had absolutely no pain after the surgery.”
For Jimmy Leopard (right), CEO of Wagoner Health, sharing Kelly’s story with the Wagoner community is important. “Kelly has been with the Wagoner Fire Department since 1991, and has been the Fire Chief since 2003,” Jimmy says. “I think it speaks volumes when a community leader like Kelly places so much trust in our hometown hospital.”
